I do believe that people inherently would do the right thing if they just could see the effects of it, but they're so far removed from that.

When I first met Helena, she was the social media strategist for PETA. Helena has a strong passion for human rights, animal rights, and social justice; all of which are why I thought it was so necessary to have her on the show.

Helena shares a lot of her past with us today, with events that happened from growing up in a mainly white town, and how discrimination and racism were subjects she faced at such a young age. From her years working with PETA, Helena offers us different ways that we too can be involved with creating a more impactful life for ourselves, animals, and the environment.

Words from Helena:

I had definite marks in my memory of moments of realizing that I was different and that I felt like I had to try harder to be liked.

There was a lot of self-consciousness growing up. I think that's a lot of what I've been reprogramming.

My parents don't really need to understand my passions in life and how I'm living them for me to be happy with them.

I do believe that people inherently would do the right thing if they just could see the effects of it, but they're so far removed from that.

If we can reprogram our childhoods, and our shadows, and our upbringing, we can certainly program what we put into our body as far as what we see as food.

I had such high standards that no matter how much I wanted to be in a relationship or how much I like long for that companionship, I'm just not someone who could fake it.
