Calling In My Dream Home During An Unlikely Time

This is a story of how I manifested my dream home during a pandemic when my salon company closed for two months! Yesterday marked one week in our new home. I still can’t believe we’re here. In 2018 when they were building this home in our neighborhood, my husband and I saw it, and like the nosy people we are, we stopped to see what was going on. We always crash any open house we see. While this was still under construction, we decided to walk around the property, peep in the windows, and inspect the entire area.

I immediately loved the house and wanted to know who the builder was so that I could set an intention for us to buy a future lot in 5-10 years and have a custom home built just like it! We loved the house we were in, but it never hurts to look, especially when you already love architecture and host the Weird Homes Tour. You never know what you might find! Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that the house right across the street was actually on our Weird Homes Tour! I knew that owner but didn’t ask about my dream home.

This is where the story keeps getting better. The new owners that bought the (weird) house across the street were also people that I knew! At dinner, I told them I was obsessed with the house across the street, and my friend pointed to my other friend and said, “You know she’s friends with the people who own that house!” What?! I immediately asked her to keep me informed if they ever wanted to sell it and to let them know I wanted first dibs! Cut to the end of 2019 at another dinner, and my friends let me know that the house was going up for sale. I texted the owners on Jan 2 and asked if I could see it (legally this time)!

We put in an offer in February of this year and closed mid-March right before the pandemic hit. Had we waited another week, I would not have been able to get a loan because of my business temporarily shutting down and having to file for unemployment myself. It was a crazy time, but I knew in my heart that all of this had fallen into place so quickly that I had to trust the process. Since we loved our house so much, we didn’t list it until after we closed on the new house.

People came and went during the pandemic in gloves and masks. It sold within one week and had a backup offer at full price. The whole time, I was struggling with temporarily closing my business and taking a severe pay cut. It all worked out, though! We are insanely grateful and blessed, and I wanted to share this story because great things will manifest for you when you aren’t trying, and situations aren’t perfect.
