Setting Clear Boundaries While Manifesting A Home
Name: Ashley Reed Southerland
Where do you reside?: Austin, TX
What is your cultural upbringing and background?: I'm the daughter of a recovering alcoholic and a codependent. I'm the youngest of 4. My 3 older siblings are my half-siblings. They feel very much like my full siblings, but because of the significant age difference, I feel more like an only child. My father quit drinking before I was born and legally adopted my half-siblings. This made for an interesting upbringing, seeing as I was never told no, and from what I gathered, I was smothered with affection. This has manifested itself in a low sense of self-worth which I believe to be a by-product of the fact that I have always sought validation through outside influences. I have never learned what it's like to trust myself to make the right decisions. I began rebelling when I was 16 years old, which led to more than a decade's worth of drug and alcohol abuse. I quit drinking when I was 31 and set off on a spiritual journey.
Are you currently a Pathway Member?: Yes
What was on your manifestation list?: A home of my own, a partner, and a new career.
What workshops did you use and what blocks did you discover during the DIs & workshops?: Manifestation Challenge, Unblocked Inner Child, Unblocked Shadow.
What tests did you face? Which did you pass? Not pass?: I was faced with a test in October when I met someone who I considered as a potential partner. There were a lot of red flags, but the people pleaser in me convinced myself it was worth trying out. Because they deserved to find love just like everyone else. I ignored so many pings that this was not the right relationship for me, but I allowed myself to ride the rollercoaster of this other person's emotions. After getting to know them intimately, I knew it was not a healthy place for me to be. I told them that I just wanted to be friends, but since they do not have healthy boundaries of their own, they kept pushing mine. And as a recovering codependent, it took two whole months before I finally ended things. Once I did, I was able to create space for my manifestations to come through.
Did you experience a magic dark period? If so, tell us about it.: I believe that I did. Between December, when I ended the relationship, and February, when I actively started looking for a house again. During this period, I was hyper-focused on my three MACRO manifestations. After a session with my herbalist, I decided to focus on just one thing as opposed to all three. The first I decided would be home. Once this came through, I knew the others would follow.
How did your manifestation come through?: I got really clear on what I wanted. There were several different parts of town I was interested in looking for something to buy. I was feeling pulled in many different directions. I couldn't make a decision. I wasn't sure what I wanted. Then it became very clear when I decided to focus on one area and one price range. Once I got more specific, the perfect place popped up, and I immediately submitted an offer. As competitive as the real estate market is in Austin, and everywhere else for that matter, I truly believe I was able to "win" this deal because it was meant for me.
How long did it take for your manifestation to come through after crafting your initial list?: I would say 4-6 weeks
How frequently were you using the workshops and DI's when you noticed the biggest shift surrounding your manifestation?: I was doing DI's regularly (every day if not every other day) and was working Unblocked Inner child and Unblocked Shadow. I have two friends who are my accountability buddies, and once the manifestation challenge ended, we continued meeting weekly.
How do you incorporate this work into your life on a daily basis? Any tips, tricks or recommendations for getting the most out of it, or personalizing it?: My advice is just to do what feels good. There are days when I don't feel like doing a DI and days when I feel like I can't live without them. Having another person (or person's) to meet with regularly and review our discoveries and breakthroughs is imperative to my success.

Is there anything else you think we should know? If you made this process your own in any way, this is the perfect spot to share that.: I'm eternally grateful for this work. As a recovering codependent and a recovering addict, I've found this method of therapy (neurological reprogramming) to be the most effective and rewarding. It's important for me to feel safe in my community and this is one that I feel very supported by.
