Finding the Ideal Music Studio In Paris
Name: Laetitia Vellutini
Where do you reside?: Paris, France
What is your cultural upbringing and background?: Strict, Emotionally Immature parents
Are you currently a Pathway Member?: Yes
What was on your manifestation list?: A music studio to practice drums. It had to be close to my place (within 30 minutes by public transport), soundproofed, well-lit, well-equipped, under 5€ an hour, available in the afternoons. This is part of a bigger manifestation "plan": I want to film drum covers, so I need a place to practice for long hours. I also need to conquer my fear of being seen!
What workshops did you use and what blocks did you discover during the DIs & workshops?: I followed the Manifestation Challenge, where I decided to focus on money blocks. At that stage, I had found a studio that matched most of my list but later turned out to be more of a test. So while doing the Manifestation Challenge, I also redid Unblocked Money and Unblocked Shadow. I realized that I was extremely avoidant regarding money, basically getting rid of it because I wasn't deserving of having it, almost in a suicidal way. I connected this to my upbringing but also to my breakup a few years ago (the guy ghosted me out of nowhere, and I was severely depressed after that). I read a number of books about financial therapy and entirely revised the way I budgeted.
I had a debt to pay off (not much but annoying). I actually had money aside on a life insurance account. I decided that I should use it to get out of debt, but my bank wasn't even replying to my letters! During DIs, I realized I held on to other people's opinions (parents, lovers, friends) more than mine and that I needed to establish my own protection. I also redid a number of Inner Child DIs, and it came out clear as a bell: my inner child wants to make noise, listen to loud music, and not be told to crank it down.
My main conscious block regarding the studio was that there is a scarcity of places in my city and that they're very expensive. Unconsciously, I had the notion that I didn't deserve my own place and that given a choice, the guy renting out the place would pick someone else than me. I wouldn't assert my needs because I had been conditioned to ignore them. I know I was also blocking myself consciously by telling myself I wasn't really an artist, I have another day job, and I "shouldn't" be after rehearsal slots as badly as a professional artist.
What expanders did you find?: I actually benefited from my own first experience: I had found ONE studio. Why wouldn't I find another?
I came across the film about Mr. Rogers with Tom Hanks. Not being American, I didn't know about Mr. Rogers, although I had seen him before. I loved the film, and it gave me things to use in DIs where my magnetic dad told me he saw me and understood my questions and problems.
What tests did you face? Which did you pass? Not pass?: The first studio I found nearly matched my list: the price was ok, it was a bit far from my place, and it was only available in the evenings and during the weekend. Then, one day, there was a band practicing next to me, and the lack of soundproofing was obvious! So they moved me to another studio in the same building. I said yes because all of my gear was there, but it was much more expensive, not equipped at all, and available at inconvenient times. I started thinking this was a test (I had calculated in my budget the increased rent was still ok), and one day when I arrived, there was a terrible smell of gasoline (the place is just next to a garage), and that was the last straw. I had to say NO! (gosh!).
There was also a pretty disastrous lunch at my parents' place when they objected to EVERYTHING I said, especially regarding money matters, and I realized they had nagged me all my life. They said pretty ridiculous things on that day and I came out convinced I was right.
Did you experience a magic dark period? If so, tell us about it.: I think there was a magic dark at the moment when I was in the 2nd studio, I wasn't entirely happy with it, but I felt a bit trapped: at least I had this, it was too expensive, but maybe there wasn't any other option. I gave myself a maximum of 4 months there (I moved in late December, and I gave myself until April to find a solution, the smell of gasoline episode was late February). My money from the bank still wasn't coming through, and I had to keep a close eye on my budget.
How did your manifestation come through? I looked up ads for other places, and this time I consciously reminded myself that those places were not so rare, so there would be something. I found an ad that was already a couple of months old, so I didn't know if it was still valid, but somehow I was convinced it was "for me." The guy took a while to answer but eventually, he replied, and there were still rehearsal slots available in the afternoon (which was what I wanted). I went to visit the place, and it was fantastic: well soundproofed, well-equipped, and well-lit, with no basement smell (it is a basement, but the guy pointed out the device that helped the airflow). Quite cheap too: under 4€ an hour!
Literally days after we agreed on my moving in, the money from the bank came through: I wasn't even counting on it anymore. I had calculated my budget so it would all fit without it. Interestingly, maybe two days before I found the ad for the place, I read tarot for myself, and it said "play like a child." I swear, the first few practices I had in this new studio were super light-hearted and fun. I could tell my inner child loved it!
How long did it take for your manifestation to come through after crafting your initial list?: From the very first list, about a year. But from the moment I said no to the ill-adapted studio, not even a week.
How frequently were you using the workshops and DI's when you noticed the biggest shift surrounding your manifestation?: I do them every day. The Manifestation Challenge did unblock a number of very central issues.
How do you incorporate this work into your life on a daily basis? Any tips, tricks or recommendations for getting the most out of it, or personalizing it?: I do it every day. Whenever I feel a shadow is about to come through, I do the Shadow DIs over and over again. Whenever I have unblocked something, and it's going "well," I'll still do a DI like Soothe or Authentic Self.
