A New Family Home That Checks All The Boxes

Name: Tatiana Thompson

Where do you reside?: Tucson, AZ

What is your cultural upbringing and background?: White, middle class without any strong cultural ties or identity

Are you currently a Pathway Member?: Yes

What was on your manifestation list?: I was primarily focused on manifesting a new home for my two children and me. I was ending a relationship (also with the help of TBM), and wanted to find a home that I could afford. The entire process took about six months, and it was cool to see how my list morphed as I gained greater self-worth. At first, I just wanted to find a three-bed, two bath rental for under $1,300/month.

By the end, I wanted to buy a duplex, pay half the mortgage with rental income, be centrally located, have space for my office, have lots of greenery and trees, have low yard maintenance, safe walking paths, and an open floor plan. And I got all the things on my list! The amazing thing is that the house I finally bought was actually on the market the entire time that I was looking. I just didn't have the capacity to imagine it for myself until later, with the help of the TBM work and personal therapy.

What workshops did you use and what blocks did you discover during the DIs & workshops?: I started with Unblocked Inner Child and proceeded through Unblocked Shadow, and am currently working on Unblocked Money. I've found that I have an enormous amount of blocking beliefs around money that I'm still working through, such as the belief that I can only ever just get by, and that I feel greedy and unworthy of making plentiful income.

What expanders did you find?: I was lucky to have a couple of female friends who showed me that it's possible to own a home as a single mom (while maintaining a good quality of life), and I've found many expanders on the Expanded podcast such as Shani Silver, Sidney ben Simon, and Issy from Issy Living.

What tests did you face? Which did you pass? Not pass?: Oh my lord, what tests DIDN'T I face?! I think an overarching theme that I needed to heal was my belief that I needed a partner to afford the lifestyle that I wanted, so I faced tests such as exes popping up and making themselves available. I also faced unexpected expenses, unreliable service providers, and no-show clients that all tested my ability to stay in trust that I could afford my lifestyle despite outside factors that I could not control. Each of these events got easier to handle, but I've used the trigger DI more than I can count to continue processing each little nuance that got revealed.

I was also tested around boundaries for a long time. They became much more nuanced as my self-worth improved and now I don't feel like I'm tested on this topic much at all. I had a long-standing pattern of being close with people who would get angry or push back when I set a boundary, stemming from my father. I had to process these same boundary dynamics with my ex, another family member, and my father. As I healed those dynamics, I also noticed myself receiving tests from clients or service providers who worked on my house. And, as I said, they've pretty much faded to nothing at this point.

Did you experience a magic dark period? If so, tell us about it.: Yes, I think I did. Right before I found my house and even after the offer was accepted. I was feeling burnt out from all the searching, and I finally just had to slow down and accept that it would come when it came, and I also had to accept that the deal might not go through for a period.

How did your manifestation come through?: I finally went to visit a house on the market that I had been ignoring for reasons that I can't quite identify. I fell in love with it right away, and the offer was accepted the next day. That being said, I was concerned when there were some hiccups in the buying process so I continued doing my DI's and making space to let the deal fall through if it wasn't right.

How long did it take for your manifestation to come through after crafting your initial list?: 6 months but my list morphed during that time to something even bigger and better.

How frequently were you using the workshops and DI's when you noticed the biggest shift surrounding your manifestation?: 5-6 times per week. Some of my greatest shifts have come from processing new shadow parts like my own narcissism and habits of using other people.

How do you incorporate this work into your life on a daily basis? Any tips, tricks or recommendations for getting the most out of it, or personalizing it?: I make sure to listen to what's currently coming up for me. Even if I'm going through a workshop, I'll pause to process a new shadow part or uncover a block using the Trigger DI. I also like to squeeze in DI's when I'm waiting in the car for one of my children at sports practice. It can be hard to find the time, but I've made a point of thinking of this as an important self-care task that must be done to get healthier.

Is there anything else you think we should know? If you made this process your own in any way, this is the perfect spot to share that.: I am a therapist who provides EMDR to clients. I also receive EMDR as a client, which I believe has been absolutely essential for my progress. My knowledge as a therapist has helped me conceptualize my blocking beliefs in order to get to the core issues more efficiently. I think the TBM work is so powerful, but I know that EMDR was a critical component of my healing. Sometimes I'll be doing a DI and realize that I'm just not getting to the core enough, or there are simply too many memories related to this issue.

I will run the blocking belief through EMDR for a more thorough clean-up in these cases. In my experience, the TBM work is excellent for specific memories because it allows you to go through the ego-state exercise of healing the part that was wounded. EMDR is more like free association, and it allows the client's brain to find all the unexpectedly connected pieces in its own way, allowing those pieces to be cleaned up and refiled in an adaptive way. I recommend TBM to many of my clients because it is a perfect supplement to the EMDR that we do in session.
